PIZZA WAY

Super tasty, super fast and super cheap. Pizza and kebab from Pizza Way.

CHAMANNA JACQUES
Very cosy and sociable – have a drink, aperitif or coffee at the Chamanna Jacques. The place to chat, read the newspaper and even: to smoke. It’s marvellous that this still exists.

ENGADIN NUT CAKE

MUSEUM ENGIADINAIS
The Engadin Museum in St. Moritz is a museum for alpine lifestyle and living culture from the 15th to the 19th century. The heart of the Engiadinais Museum with its 21 exhibition rooms is made up of historical interiors from five centuries. Furthermore, the museum displays selected holdings from Campell’s top-class collection in originally staged show collections. Another permanent exhibition is dedicated to the Engadin language.

THE ST. MORITZ DESIGN GALLERY
The “St. Moritz Design Gallery” culturally enriches the Serletta car park between the train station, the lake and Badrutt’s Palace Hotel. Along the pedestrian passage from Badrutt’s Palace Hotel down to the lake, there are 31 large illuminated showcases, in which several exhibitions with particularly valuable posters and historical photographs are held every year.
This creates an art gallery that is open 365 days a year and presents current topics to around a million passers-by per year in a mirror of the past.

LAKE ST. MORITZ
Our recommendation for those who are in St. Moritz for the first time is to visit Lake St. Moritz or Lej da San Murezzan in Rhaeto-Romanic. In summer you can enjoy a leisurely walk around the lake (40-60 minutes) with a wonderful view of St. Moritz village and in winter you can also walk or skate on the frozen lake.
Every winter, famous events take place on the frozen lake: the White Turf and the Snow Polo Tournament.
Our insider tip: During the summer months from the end of May to mid-October, it is possible to book a boat ride on Lake St. Moritz. This gives you the perfect mountain feeling and is a unique experience that is otherwise hard to find.
The St. Moritz Sailing Club is located directly below the Palace Hotel, one of the most prestigious hotels in the world.

BRIDGE PUNT OTA
If you are going to Pontresina, we recommend a detour in the direction of the railway station to the old Punt Ota bridge. It is located directly under the new Berninabach bridge, the connection between the train station and the village. From this bridge you have an incomparable view of the imposing gorge of Pontresina.

LAGO BIANCO
One of the most beautiful Engadin lakes is a reservoir on the Bernina Pass, which is fed with glacier milk (glacier water containing silt). This gives the lake the milky, whitish color that gave it its name. Lago Bianco is on the route of the famous Bernina Express of the Rhätische Bahn.
Hikers enjoy the beautiful path to the southern dam and on towards Alp Grüm, while mountain bikers love the route along the lake and further down into the valley to Poschiavo. But you can also easily get to the lake by car to just enjoy the view: In summer the lake has a beautiful light blue color and in winter the black ice is particularly impressive.

LAKE SILVAPLANA
It is well known that there are many lakes here in the Engadin and Lake Silvaplana is the most popular for water sports enthusiasts, although it is not supervised. Practice the various sports activities at your own risk.

CRAP DA SASS CASTLE
On the banks of Lake Silvaplana you can also see the Crap da Sass castle (Crap = stone, Romanesque; da Sass = of Sasso, stone, Italian), which was built in 1906.

WATERFALL IN SURLEJ
The Surlej waterfall fits wonderfully into the Engadine landscape, although it was not created naturally, but because of a dam and the associated diversion of the creek to avoid flooding in Surlej.
Since the waterfall is clearly visible from afar, you cannot miss it and it is only a stone’s throw away from Crap da Sass Castle.

VILLAGE TOUR
If you would like to get to know St. Moritz better, you will certainly enjoy a guided tour through the village. Here you can find out more about the history, Engadin traditions and events.

SOGLIO TOUR
Soglio in Bergell is a dream in autumn. This is the time for chestnuts, families collect them and dry them in old granite ovens, with the scent permeating the whole valley. Soglio is a medieval town made of Bergell granite, a visit is a wonderful experience.
You can reach Soglio by car or by bus in the direction of Maloja.

SIGHTSEEING FROM ABOVE
Everyone can hike, but few can enjoy the landscape from a bird’s perspective. There are paragliding passenger flights to view the Engadine from above: Let the experts take control and concentrate fully on enjoying nature and the thrill. The requirements for the passenger are a normal physical condition and a body weight of 30 kg or more.
Depending on the weather and the season, starts from Muottas Muragl, Alp Languard, Diavolezza, Corvatsch or from a starting point in the adjacent valleys are possible.

Suitable for all ages.
With the Bernina Express or simply with the RhB to Puschlav or even to Tirano (Italy). The train journey over the Bernina Pass is simply breathtaking: This panoramic train travels through the impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Rhaetian Railway, past glaciers and down to the palm trees of Poschiavo.
Its route is certainly one of the most spectacular in the European Alps: It passes through 55 tunnels and over 196 bridges from Chur to Tirano, including a 65-metre-high viaduct. The train passes several highlights such as the Montebello curve, the Morteratsch glaciers, Lago Bianco and the Brusio circular viaduct.
A journey on the Bernina Express is a real treat: Simply sit down and enjoy the spectacle.
Is there anything more beautiful than a winter hike in the Engadin? The snow-covered mountain landscape is simply magical. In the Engadin, fantastic natural scenery is included on every route.
From St. Moritz to Bever
Hiking between St. Moritz and Bever means immersing yourself in a white and silent winter wonderland. A short walk across the frozen Lake St. Moritz (45 min.) is an experience, but for those seeking peace and quiet, Val Bever is ideal. This magically secluded side valley begins directly behind Bever and offers a hike along the Beverinbach stream across snow-covered plains and through mystical winter forests (90 min. each way). Away from the surrounding ski areas, you will not only find the peace and quiet you long for but also (with a bit of luck) deer, as well as a 100-year-old, original French bowling alley in the “Spinas” inn.
Lake Trail St. Moritz – Sils – Maloja (SwitzerlandMobility Route 313)
Difficulty: medium
From the St. Moritz cross-country skiing centre, the trail leads to the Olympic ski jump and on to Lej Marsch, an idyllic mountain lake in the middle of the forest. From there, the trail descends to Lej da Champfèr. Walk along the left bank to Surlej and along Lake Silvaplana to Sils. If you still have energy left, continue across the frozen Lake Sils to Isola or Maloja. Winter hiking in the middle of the frozen Engadin lakescape! When Lake Silvaplana is frozen over, the route leads across the lake between Silvaplana and Sils.
Duration: about 4 hours (17 km)
Morteratsch (SwitzerlandMobility Route 314)
Difficulty: easy
The starting point is Morteratsch railway station (46.45090, 9.94041), which can be easily reached by car or train. The Morteratsch glacier trail then leads visitors directly to the glacier tongue of the third-longest glacier in the Eastern Alps on an easily accessible path. An educational trail provides information about the retreat of the glacier.
Duration: about 50 min.
Capricorn Promenade
Suitable for families with small children:
Difficulty: easy
On the Capricorn Promenade from the St. Maria church in Pontresina, a winter hiking trail of one kilometre in length, children and adults receive entertaining information about the character of the animal, its habitat and its distribution at seven steles. The promenade is accessible all year round. If you are lucky, you can observe these fascinating animals there in May.
Duration: about 25 min.
Snowshoeing on the hiking mountain Muottas Muragl
Difficulty: medium
Muottas Muragl is mainly visited for the breathtaking view of the valley and the lakes, and many people also like to go sledging there in winter. But a snowshoe hike from there can also be recommended.
All it takes to be surrounded by the complete silence of the snow is a few steps from the hiking trail out into the unspoilt countryside. Beginners are best advised to follow the easy, blue-marked circular trail, which leads 3.1 kilometres into the landscape from and back to the mountain station. There is also a slightly more challenging (red) version and a 7 km long black marked trail for experienced snow tourers. Afterwards, you can celebrate the end of a wonderful day with a romantic sunset in the Romantik Hotel’s panorama restaurant at the mountain station.
Duration: about 1:20 h.
